CSIF videos help livestock farmers be successful

West Des Moines, Iowa – September 17, 2012 – The Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers is pleased to offer experts via video to help Iowa’s livestock and poultry farmers successfully and responsibly grow their farms. The videos include snapshots from the recent “Farming for the Future” conference that addressed many of the challenges facing livestock farmers today and can be accessed at www.supportfarmers.com/video.

At the conference, experts provided attendees with a global perspective of agriculture, an update on rules and regulations, insight into the effect regulations have on farm families and the economy, and ways to measure the financial feasibility of livestock today. The videos also include farmer panelists who shared strategies they’ve used to successfully to grow their farms.

“Farmers are facing unprecedented challenges this year due to a number of circumstances,” says CSIF Executive Director Brian Waddingham.  “These are extremely volatile times in agriculture and I would encourage farm families to access the online videos of the conference. The insight offered provides a unique perspective that may help families deal with and overcome some of the issues they are currently facing.”

The Coalition has received a record number of calls in 2012 from farmers of all ages looking to grow or maintain their family farm or to bring family members into the business.  “The requests range from assistance in interpreting rules and regulations and siting new livestock buildings to improving neighbor relations,” Waddingham said.

The Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers was created by farmers for farmers to help them raise livestock successfully and responsibly.  It’s a joint partnership involving the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association, Iowa Corn Growers Association, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, Iowa Pork Producers Association, Iowa Soybean Association, Iowa Turkey Federation and Midwest Dairy Association.

Assistance is provided to Iowa farmers at no cost.  CSIF does not lobby or develop policy.  Farm families wanting a helping hand can contact the Coalition at 1-800-932-2436 or www.supportfarmers.com.
