Carroll County farm family recognized for livestock care, conservation and community leadership
Eickman Family Farms is operated by Glen and Donna Eickman and their sons, Tony and Scott, with Maury Eickman, the family’s patriarch, remaining involved as a landowner. The family also works alongside several part-time employees who assist with the operation. Together they raise corn and soybeans and operate a farrow-to-finish hog operation near Manning. Tony and Scott represent the fourth generation of the family to farm the land. Tony lives on the original acreage and in the same home purchased by the family when their great-grandfather began farming. Sarah Lorenzon, Tony and Scott’s sister, is also part of the extended farm family, and her son Layton helps on the farm.

Gregg and Liddy Hora are first-generation farmers who began raising pigs shortly after college and built their operation through steady growth and reinvestment. After moving to Fort Dodge in the mid-1980s, they expanded their hog facilities throughout the 1990s and early 2000s.

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig will present the Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award to the Mike and Kathy Fara Family of Shelby County on Friday, Jan. 16. The event and award presentation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Irwin Community Building in Irwin.

Longtime Page County farm family to receive statewide recognition for community involvement, conservation and animal care
Lee Brooke began his farming career out of high school in 1980, building an operation that is now multi-generational. Today he farms alongside his wife, Darla; their son, Logan; Logan’s wife, Annie, an agricultural education teacher in Stanton; and their five-month-old son, Lawson. Lee and Darla also have two daughters: Bailey Clubb, her husband Cody, and their children Bowen (7) and Raylee (5) of Clarinda, and Leah Carlson and her husband Josh of Red Oak.

Mike and Diana, along with the help of Mike’s brother Mark, operate Rysdam Family Farm, a diversified cow/calf beef cattle operation that also raises corn, soybeans, hay, wheat and oats. Previously, the family also raised sheep, hogs and chickens for meat and eggs.

Multi-generational Bremer County family to be honored during a ceremony at their farm
Jeremy and Sara Ebaugh, along with their three sons, John, Joe, and Jeb, operate Ebaugh Dairy, a fourth-generation farm that is home to Holstein dairy cows, a cow/calf herd and chickens. The family also raises corn, soybeans, hay, oats and rye. Milk from the dairy is sold to Wapsie Valley Creamery, and the family also sells Holstein bull calves, eggs and St. Bernard puppies. With John and Joe pursuing agricultural careers after wrestling at Upper Iowa University, and Jeb actively helping on the farm while in high school, the family is preparing the way for a fifth generation to continue the operation.

Quinn Honored as 200th Good Neighbor
Bob Quinn, long-time WHO radio ag broadcaster, once said, “I’m sometimes asked how we find a good farm neighbor. I tell them, ‘Raise your window shade and look across the field. You’ll probably find the very definition of one.” The Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers (CSIF) didn’t have to look far for their 200th recipient of the Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award. He was right before their eyes. Quinn was presented the award on Friday, August 22nd at the FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny. “Bob, and his advocacy for agriculture, is the very essence of what makes a good farm neighbor,” says CSIF Executive Director Brian Waddingham. For 21 years, Quinn has presented the Good Farm Neighbor Awards, honoring farmers in all but 14 Iowa counties.

Louisa County farm family to be recognized at the 2025 Iowa State Fair
PaSa Farms, named after Paul and Sara Gieselman, is a multigenerational family farm located in Louisa County. The farm has been in the family since 1955, when Paul’s family moved to the area seeking greater opportunity and better land. Today, Paul and Sara, along with their children August (16), Benjamin (14), and Capp (12), operate the diversified farm. Paul’s father, Wayne, remains active on the farm, particularly during harvest, and the operation also includes a dedicated employee, Clint Walker.
