Other responsibilities will include assisting with the organization’s farmer education efforts, including the annual Farming for the Future Conference, coordinating the popular Gary Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award, promoting the establishment of windbreaks on livestock farms and networking with the state’s livestock and poultry leaders to provide timely assistance to farm families to help them manage changes to their farms.
A native of Belle Plaine, Iowa, Brecht was very active in FFA and served as the Southeast Iowa Vice President from 2019 to 2020. She graduated from Iowa State University in May 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural communications.
“The Coalition has been a trusted resource for Iowa farm families wanting to remain viable on the land and active in their communities for more than eighteen years,” said CSIF executive director Brian Waddingham. “Hope will help maintain and advance the Coalition’s reputation as a prompt, reliable and trusted resource for livestock and poultry farmers to call when they need assistance growing or maintaining their farms.”
