WEST DES MOINES, IOWA – March 12, 2026 – The Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers and Frazier Nursery are proud to sponsor and support the Iowa America 250 tree planting initiative, in partnership with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. The Iowa Agriculture Tree Planting Initiative is a statewide effort encouraging Iowa’s youth to plant 250 trees on Arbor Day 2026 in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, led by Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig.

The initiative is part of the Iowa America 250 celebration as we commemorate America’s 250th anniversary in 2026. Frazier Nursery will provide free regional delivery of trees purchased through them along with a commemorative America250 plaque. This youth-focused effort combines conservation, agriculture and community service while empowering young Iowans – especially FFA and 4-H members – to lead local beautification efforts in their communities.

“This initiative is a terrific way to for young people to make a lasting impact in their communities,” says Brian Waddingham, executive director of CSIF. “The Iowa Agriculture Tree Planting Initiative aligns perfectly with our Green Farmstead Partner (GFP) Program which encourages livestock farmers to plant trees around livestock and poultry barns.”

To find out more about the Iowa Agriculture Tree Planting Initiative and how your local FFA chapter or 4-H Club can get involved, click here. If you would like to place an order for trees to participate in this initiative through Frazier Nursery, visit www.Iowa250Trees.com and place your order by April 10. Regional delivery will be offered between April 20 – 23 and will include a commemorative IowaAmerica250 plaque with every tree ordered through Frazier nursery.

“We couldn’t be more excited about this initiative and honored to be a part of it. This event offers students across Iowa an opportunity to give back to their community in a meaningful way and to learn about trees and planting and be part of something that will be around for generations,” said Alex Frazier of Frazier Nursery.

The GFP program was created in 2009 to provide information on tree and shrub plantings especially designed for livestock farms and offers the expertise of 25 nursery professionals around the state. Research shows planting rows of shrubs and trees on livestock farms serve as a
natural filtration system for odors, helps conserve energy, provides additional shade in the summer and protection from snow. The program is conducted in partnership with Trees Forever and the Iowa Nursery and Landscape Association who have expertise in tree plantings on farms.
