National Good Neighbor Day
There’s a lot to celebrate on National Good Neighbor Day! Since 2004, the Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award has been awarded to 178 livestock farmers across Iowa. Each award is a celebration of the good things being done every day on Iowa’s livestock farms.

Silage Piles + Other Feedstuffs: What You Need to Know
Fall is a busy time in Iowa, from harvesting crops, to putting up feedstuffs for the coming year, to baling stalks for bedding. Before chopping silage or other feedstuffs that will be stockpiled, consider potential environmental impacts.
Silage leachate, or seepage from silage piles, bags, bunkers, and silos, is not only an economic loss that negatively impacts your bottom line, but also an environmental concern.

Behounek Family
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, Mike Naig honored Joe and Francine Behounek as Wergin Good Farm Neighbors during a ceremony held on September 2nd, 2023. Joe and Francine, along with help from their daughter Kate Kiebach, grandson Kade Kiebach, and granddaughter Hadley Kiebach, operate Bawnmore Farms in Poweshiek County.
Dolch Family
For over 50 years, Steve Dolch and family have demonstrated their commitment to their land, their livestock, and their community. In recognition of their progressive farming efforts, the Dolch family, of Montgomery County were awarded the Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award on Friday, September 15th.
The Fenceline Podcast
Welcome to Episode 2 of the Fenceline Podcast. Bob Quinn is joined by the first family to receive the Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award from Butler County. The Bolins share the history of New Day Dairy and how the operation has also evolved into an agritourism business. Then Secretary Mike Naig joins us to talk about his favorite topic – Iowa agriculture.
The Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers will be hosting our annual Farming for the Future Conference for farmers and industry professionals on Thursday, November 30th at the Iowa FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny.
Conference registration begins at 9:30am with the first speaker on at 10:00am. The conference concludes at 3:00pm.
This year’s conference, “Rules, Regulations & the Future of Your Farm,” features a dynamic line-up of speakers to help farmers better understand how the new rules and regulations being proposed will impact their livestock farms. The conference will also feature a commodity market outlook, tips on ag financing strategies and an overview of the global ag market. There will also be an update from company representatives that offer unique products and services to farmers that raise livestock and poultry.
