Iowa Steel Masters Invests in CSIF, Emphasizes Support for Livestock Industry

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – October 25, 2017 – Iowa Steel Masters, a family owned custom steel roll forming company, was recently named a partner of the Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers (CSIF) for their investment in the future of livestock farming in Iowa.

“We are proud to join CSIF in their efforts to serve Iowa’s farmers and align ourselves with a like-minded organization that shares our mission of doing things right,” said Matt Roelfs, owner and general manager of Iowa Steel Masters. “An investment in CSIF is an investment for Iowa livestock which is so important to the vitality of our rural communities, generating 122,764 jobs and $31.6 billion in the state. The Coalition is a great resource to help farmers grow successfully and responsibly.”

Roelfs has a passion for helping Iowa farm families succeed. Before opening the doors to his steel roofing panel business in his hometown of Ackley in 2014, Roelfs ran a commercial landscaping company specializing in designing and installing vegetative environmental buffers around livestock facilities.

He is a former participant of CSIF’s Green Farmstead Partner Program (GFP), an initiative that pairs livestock farmers with nursery and landscape professionals to establish trees on their farms to reduce odor, protect their livestock and enhance neighbor relations.

“Our work would not be possible without the support from our sponsors and allied-industry partners,” said Brian Waddingham, executive director of CSIF. “We would like to express our appreciation to Iowa Steel Masters for investing in our services and thank Matt Roelfs for continuing to partner with the Coalition.”

From trees to rooftops, Roelfs business goals remain meeting the needs of his clients. This year, he and his team have sold nearly 3.5 million feet of steel for residential, commercial and agricultural projects including hog, cattle and poultry barns.

“We cover it all, but we do a lot for livestock,” said Roelfs. “We can take care of whatever someone needs on their farm, shop or livestock building, and we take a lot of pride in having premium products for any application that our customers have.”

The Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers was created by farmers to help farmers raise livestock successfully and responsibly. It’s a joint partnership involving the Iowa Beef Industry Council, Iowa Cattlemen’s Association, Iowa Corn Growers Association, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, Iowa Pork Producers Association, Iowa Poultry Association, Iowa Soybean Association, Iowa Turkey Federation and Midwest Dairy Association.

The non-profit, non-partisan organization provides assistance to farmers at no cost. CSIF does not lobby or develop policy. Farm families wanting a helping hand can contact the Coalition at 1-800-932-2436 or visit www.supportfarmers.com.
