BRENNEMAN FAMILY RECEIVES WERGIN GOOD FARM NEIGHBOR AWARD

Rob and Char Brenneman and family were honored with the Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award on Friday, May 4, 2018, at their farm in Washington, Iowa. Nearly 250 friends, family members and industry representatives were in attendance, making it one of our largest events to date. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig presented the award sponsored by the Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers (CSIF), the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, and WHO and WMT radio stations.

KIRK AND JOLENE PISEL RECEIVE GOOD FARM NEIGHBOR AWARD

Kirk and Jolene Pisel of JoKir’s Wild Beef were honored with the Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award on Wednesday, April 11th, at the Gilmore City Café in Gilmore City, Iowa. The Pisel’s closest friends, family members and industry representatives were in attendance. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig presented the award sponsored by the Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers (CSIF), the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, and WHO and WMT radio stations.

WALSTON JOINS COALITION TEAM AS COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

The Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers (CSIF) welcomes Megyn Walston as their 2018 communications intern.
Walston will assist CSIF by coordinating outreach activities, promoting special events and developing content for the organization’s communication channels. She will collaborate with the Coalition to advocate for farmers and publicize CSIF efforts throughout her internship.

Combination livestock farms can be challenging if a farmer is thinking of expanding. The most common example of a combination livestock farm are cattle and hogs on the same farm site. Under state law, for the purpose of new construction permitting, all animal units in the same production practice are counted together.
