CSIF Provides Update on Livestock Rules and Regulations

12-11-2023 in Farming for the Future Conference

West Des Moines, Iowa – December 11, 2023 – The Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers is proud to offer vital tools and resources crucial for Iowa’s livestock and poultry farmers to successfully and responsibly grow their farms and help young people return to the farm.

The non-profit, non-lobbying organization has seen an uptick in young people with intentions of returning to rural Iowa to raise their families and farm. However, with a significant amount of capital required to purchase land, many of these young people are finding that raising livestock and poultry may provide the best opportunity for them to accomplish their goal of returning to the family farm.

Earlier this month, CSIF hosted their 18th annual Farming for the Future conference, themed “Rules, Regulations, and the Future of Your Farm.” It addressed many of the challenges facing farmers today. Experts provided attendees with a global perspective of agriculture, a livestock, crop and feed outlook, and a rules and regulations update. A panel of experts also offered insight into navigating the more than 250 pages of rules and regulations that apply to livestock farms today.

Due to the high level of interest in these topics, the presentations are now available at www.supportfarmers.com.

“Our mission of helping Iowa’s farm families grow successfully and responsibly is still as important today as it was nineteen years ago,” says CSIF Executive Director Brian Waddingham. “Our pre-emptive approach of helping farmers start raising livestock or grow their existing farms has proven to be successful – and in many cases – essential to reaching the farm families goals.”

The Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers was created by farmers to help farmers raise livestock successfully and responsibly.  It’s a joint partnership involving the Iowa Beef Industry Council, Iowa Cattlemen’s Association, Iowa Corn Growers Association, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, Iowa Pork Producers Association, Iowa Soybean Association, Iowa Turkey Federation, Midwest Dairy and the North Central Poultry Association.

The non-profit, non-partisan organization provides assistance to farmers at no cost.  CSIF does not lobby or develop policy.  Farm families wanting a helping hand can contact the Coalition at 1-800-932-2436 or at www.supportfarmers.com.
