WEST DES MOINES, IOWA – May 17, 2022 – The Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers (CSIF) is excited to welcome Janie Plendl to the team as their 2022 communication intern.

Plendl will help advance CSIF’s mission of supporting farmers as they raise livestock responsibly and successfully through assisting with content creation, event planning, and maintaining strong industry relations.

Plendl will be a senior at Iowa State University this fall studying Agriculture and Life Sciences Education, Communications Option and minoring in Animal Science, Public Relations, and General Business. In addition to her studies, Plendl is a member of Block and Bridle and the Agriculture Communicators of Tomorrow. She currently spends much of her time on the road picturing livestock shows of all species. Before attending Iowa State, Plendl grew up on her family’s livestock and row crop farm located in northwest Iowa. Growing up, she was actively involved in both 4H and FFA and spent most of her time working on livestock and showing both locally and nationally.

“The agriculture industry has become a huge part of my life from 4H and FFA to showing and networking. This industry has played a big role in who I am today, and I feel as if the Coalition gives me a chance to give back to the industry. As the 2022 CSIF Communications intern, I look forward to expanding my knowledge within the Coalition and building strong professional relationships with Iowa farm families,” says Plendl.

CSIF is a non-profit organization that assists livestock farmers who want help interpreting rules and regulations, guidance on good site locations for barns, counsel on enhancing neighbor relations and tips on how to protect the environment at no cost. This positive, solutions-based approach to helping livestock farmers grow is a collaborative effort involving the Iowa Beef Industry Council, Iowa Cattlemen’s Association, Iowa Corn Growers Association, Iowa Farm Bureau, Iowa Pork Producers Association, Iowa Poultry Association, Iowa Soybean Association, Iowa Turkey Federation and Midwest Dairy.  For more information, call 800.932.2436 or visit supportfarmers.com.
