Calving Barn Open House

The Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers is hosting a “Calving Under Roof Open House” on June 23 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. near Nora Springs to provide livestock farmers an opportunity to tour an existing calving barn, hear about the economics of calving under roof, outline strategies to reduce feed costs, discuss cattle health considerations and receive a rules and regulations update.
Families, neighbors and community members are invited to tour the new calving barn, enjoy a complimentary lunch and visit with members of the family to learn more about how they raise livestock and safeguard the environment.
Experts from the Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers (CSIF) will also be available to provide insight into interpreting rules and regulations impacting animal agriculture, enhancing relationships with neighbors and choosing good locations for new barns and feedlots. CSIF assistance is available to farm families at no charge.
