Ben Leichty's Testimonial

“The Coalition had the network and expertise in place to help me plan and install the right trees and shrubs for my turkey farm. Not only did the trees enhance the appearance of my farm, they’re a great windbreak to protect the turkeys and were affordable, too.” - Ben Leichty

Ben Leichty, a fourth generation turkey farmer, called upon the Coalition to Support Iowa's Farmers (CSIF) for guidance in improving neighbor relations.

The Henry County native planted trees through the Green Farmstead Partner program, a collaborative effort of CSIF, the Iowa Nursery and Landscape Association, and Trees Forever. The unique initiative unites the environmental community and the farming community by bringing experts certified in designing windbreaks and shelterbelts directly to the farmgate.

Ben utilized Egli Landscapes, one of the many nursery and landscape professionals participating in the program. He planted trees as a windbreak for the turkey barns, to control snow and to improve aethetics and neighbor relations.
